Wines Perfect for Gifting

Château Des Charmes Old Vines Riesling 2008, VQA Niagara On The Lake, $16.95 (277228)

For the girlfriend.  She’s bright, fresh, and juicy.  So is this wine.  Wrap it up with Adele’s CD and hope she is 1 of 100 people who don’t already own it.

Valiano Poggio Teo Chianti Classico 2006, Docg, Castelnuovo Berardenga, Italy, $17.95 (250563)

For the good neighbor.  They shovel your walk and smile while they do it.  Give em a bottle of this friendly Chianti.  Perfect to serve when they drop by, or when you go over for a drink.  Strap on your cheesiest holiday sweater.

Alejandro Fernandez Tinto Pesquera Crianza 2008, Do Ribera Del Duero, Spain, $27.95 (341461)

For the knowledgable wine host.  They’re well read, know when they see a good bottle, and they appreciate something not well known.  This is a super tasty Spanish vino from a great region.  Skip the tacky wine bag and let the label and cork be wrapping enough.

Warre’s Colheita Tawny 1997, Doc Douro, Btld $39.95 (189597)

For the Boss Man.  Colheita is a style of Port that is barrel aged and is great value for the money. It’s a delicious desert that will impress the most discerning leader.  Wrap it up with some blue cheese or some tartan packaged English toffee.
